Student of Life. Advocate for Serious Joy in Christ

The tagline says it all.

In many ways I am a student of life. First of all, I have literally been a student my whole life. At completion of Year 12 I jumped ship to university, where I currently study. But when I move into a full time job, I doubt my tagline will lose relevance. I will forever be learning in this life. I don’t boast a ton of knowledge about most things.

Yet despite this, there is something I can strongly advocate.

There’s a lot of things I find joy in doing. Cycling and running are up there. I live pretty close to the beach and love it. Hanging out with mates over rocket league, coffee, sport. As much as I like these activities, they are but temporary joys. As much as I love to do these things, they don’t produce serious and lasting joy.

Cut to the chase – there’s nothing temporary about God.

Nothing beats a relationship with the God of the universe. Nothing beats a life of real purpose beyond the grave. Nothing produces true, lasting joy like having this secure hope (Hebrews 6:19). A glory in store, a destiny prepared, an inheritance reserved.

Now that’s something I can hang my hat on.

Thank you for stopping by A Scribbler & A Shutterbug. I hope you enjoyed your visit! You probably noticed my tagline — persistently seeking joy. I like your “serious joy in Jesus” quite a lot, too. I had an online friend (who is with Jesus now) — she suffered from an autoimmune illness that eventually took her life. But she inspired me in that she chose joy above all else, trusting the Lord that His plan was/is greater than hers (or any of ours). There is such comfort in that! 🙂

No problems Laura! Sounds like a very inspiring friend of yours. There’s no greater testimony than when everything in life looks like a lot of loss, yet because of Christ, we say gain. Keep seeking him and pursuing the eternal joy he has in store 🙂

No problems mate! Loved your message, short sharp and to the point about seeking the presence of Jesus. Was actually pretty similar to my most recent post ‘King Jesus’ if you get the time.

Haha yeah, I try to make my titles as simple as possible – no beating around the bush. It’s all about Jesus. Thanks for taking the time to read the post! Merry Christmas man 🙂
